The ATF requires specific information on NFA firearms. For Form 1 applications where you manufacture an NFA item, you must engrave the maker’s name (individual or trust), city, and state. These markings must be at least 1/16 inch in height and 0.003 inches deep. Common locations include receiver flats, barrel underside, or other conspicuous areas that don’t interfere with operation.
We guide you through proper placement based on your specific firearm and ATF guidelines. Form 4 transfers may require additional engraving depending on the item and its original markings. We review your paperwork and ensure all necessary information appears correctly before you submit your application.

Most simple text engravings take 5-10 minutes. Complex designs or multiple items require more time. You’re welcome to watch the process. After engraving, we clean the piece and inspect the results. Engraved areas may show slight discoloration on some metals.
This is normal and often preferred as it increases contrast and readability. Turnaround time for most projects is same-day or next-day depending on our schedule. NFA compliance work takes priority for customers with pending applications.
